In 1890, the Duke of Aosta visited Pontassieve after learning of a hidden gem in the cellar of the newly established Ruffino, a rising winery known for its Chianti. Impressed, he made Ruffino the royal supplier, and this wine has been a flagship since 1927, bearing its iconic label. The soil composition comprises clay and limestone, enriched by the abundant presence of galestro, a characteristic feature of Chianti Classico.
